before we begin,
i just want you to know:
i have done no research beyond actually watching this movie.
i have heard that i could find out a lot about history on the internet but
i haven't been able to stop pinning inspiring quotes long enough to check.
i guess i will just have to take your word for it!
alrighty!
bullet point review!

bullet point review!
yes!
- Daniel Day-Lewis reminded me of my grandpa. so much! from his hair, to his sweet manner, to how tall he is, to his stories (so many stories). this made me love him way more than i might have, had he looked like this:
i have no idea if tommy lee jones was playing this guy, i just found it on google images & couldn't not post it.
right?
kindred grumps they are!
(ps. the golden globes were last night & man, the tommy lee jones drinking game would be a total waste because that guys face never changes.
all grump, all the time.
but that's why we love him!)

- surprisingly (unless you know me) i cried quite a lot through this movie.
she was just so tragic...
i know she's been criticized for it but i think she was perfectly devastating/crazy.
- & i love this nightgown.
- this line, that abe says to mary, is so beautifully said & could easily be applied to situations not related to the presidency, loss of a child &/or racism. say wearing an uncomfortable dress to a party...try it out sometime! (i think i might need to pin it later)
You may lighten this burden
or render it intolerable
- daniel day-lewis totally embodied the president. it was pretty incredible. at one point i stared at him trying to see daniel in there & couldn't. he just was lincoln. so very impressive.
- the relationship between lincoln & his youngest son was really endearing. i might just take a few minutes away from pinning to look up some stuff about it...
- the movie was quite long & at a few points my mind drifted. if it had been a super late night showing i would have fallen asleep, i'm pretty sure. on the bright side, the costumes & sets were so beautiful so if i got lost in a speech i just looked at the clothes & decor until the next scene.
- the very best part about this movie was that i got to see it with my dear friend, becky! she is super cool & always has thoughtful observations. especially at 10pm in the mall parking lot :) love you, beck!
